Ingredients

  • ¼ Kilo Gram flour
  • a small amount Ghee
  • a small amount Kesari powder (orange food colouring)
  • ½ Kilo Sugar
  • as needed Dalda (vegetable shortening) or refined oil

Instructions

  1. Put the sugar in a wide vessel, add enough water to cover it, and boil it into syrup until it reaches one-string consistency; then set aside. Mix the gram flour with water (adding a little kesari powder) and dissolve it to a batter of dosa-batter consistency. Heat Dalda or ghee in a pan, pour a ladle of batter over a perforated ladle, and press it through into the oil. Once the boondi dropped into the oil is cooked without turning too dark, remove it and drop it into the sugar syrup. After a short while, take it out and spread it on a mat. Tasty boondi is ready.
