Ingredients
- 1 cup Gram flour (besan)
- 1/2 cup Rice flour
- 1 Tablespoon Maida (all-purpose flour)
- as needed Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Chili powder
- 2 pinches Cooking soda
- Oil (as needed, for frying)
- 6 (அ) 7 Onion
Instructions
- Take onions of similar, moderate size, peel them, and slice crosswise into thin rounds.
- Spread them on a plate so the rings don't separate and come apart.
- Sift the flours together, mix in salt, chili powder, and soda, add the required water, and thin to an idli-batter-like consistency.
- Pour oil three-quarters full into a pan and heat.
- Once the oil is hot, dip the onions one at a time into the batter and drop into the oil, deep enough to submerge them, and fry until golden.
- Put the fried bajjis on a rack, drain the oil, and serve hot.
- Serve alongside coconut chutney, thokku, or sauce.
