Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 Tablespoon Rice flour
  • 2 Onion
  • 2 Teaspoons Ghee
  • 1 pinch Cooking soda
  • 2 Green chili
  • 1 Tablespoon Chopped mint leaves
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Chili powder
  • 8 Cashew nuts
  • 8 Bread slices
  • 2 Teaspoons Sour buttermilk
  • Oil (as needed, for frying)
  • ருசிக்கேற்ப Salt

Instructions

  1. Slice the onion and green chili lengthwise.
  2. Trim the crusts off the bread slices, tear the centers into large pieces, and pulse once in a mixer with the dry-grinding blade -- this turns it into crumbs.
  3. Put these bread crumbs in a bowl, sprinkle in the 2 spoons of sour buttermilk, mix, and let it sit for 1/2 hour.
  4. In a separate wide basin, combine the ghee and soda and rub together well with your fingers.
  5. First mix in the flours, then add all the other ingredients and mix well.
  6. If the mixture already holds together into a ball by hand, don't add water. Otherwise, sprinkle in just a little water, work it in, and drop into hot oil to fry, the same way as the other pakodas. Serve hot.
