Ingredients

  • 250 ml Chana dal (at least (minimum quantity))
  • a little Asafoetida
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • a little Cumin seeds, cinnamon bark
  • Onion (finely chopped)
  • 6 Green chilli
  • Curry leaves, coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak 250 ml of chana dal in water for at least three hours, then drain in a colander and pat dry. Wipe the grinding stone clean and add the dal along with 1 teaspoon salt, fennel seeds, and a little cinnamon. Grind coarsely without adding water, then mix in the finely chopped onion, 6 green chillies, curry leaves and coriander leaves. Heat oil in a pan. Shape small portions of the batter into balls, flatten them in your palm, and drop them into the oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides and remove. Dried peas can be used instead of chana dal to make this the same way.
