Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Boiled potato (for the filling)
  • 1/2 cup Finely chopped onion
  • 2 Teaspoons Chopped green chili
  • as needed Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 Lemon
  • Outer batter (prepared as in the Vegetable Bonda recipe)

Instructions

  1. Peel the boiled potato and mash it while still hot.
  2. Mix in the very finely chopped onion, green chili, and salt, and squeeze in the lemon juice.
  3. Mix in the coriander leaves too and shape into balls.
  4. Mix a gram-flour batter as described in the Vegetable Bonda recipe, dip the balls in it, and deep-fry in hot oil.
  5. Note: for this bonda, the onion should be mixed in raw, without sauteing.
  6. Alternative method: saute the onion, mix in potato and peas to make a masala, and use it to make the bonda instead.
